One Less Safe Place to Play DDR

There’s been shootings and stabbings at Broadway City Arcade, one of the major places in NYC to play Dance Dance Revolution. Apparently this took place during the hours when they open up one of their floors as a dive nightclub.

My immediate response was to wonder whether this was a Crip Walk-related incident, but the article says gang activity was ruled out. This can’t be good for Giuliani’s Times Square, though. Frankly, it’s not any good for local DDR, either. Braodway City has the best viewing setup anywhere in town, and a lot of the best dancers used to hang out there.

I just want to note this weird sentence from the article:

“The fight broke out about 2:40 a.m. in the club of the Broadway City Arcade on West 42nd Street, the street where the theaters present “The Lion King” and “42nd Street.””

1) Who doesn’t know what 42nd Street is? 2) Is naming two musicals — one named FOR 42nd Street and the other a knock-off of a Disney movie — really going to help anyone who ISN’T familiar with 42nd Street understand where this took place?
