For a Teachers College class on Second Life, my final project was a game to use environmental print to develop students’ recognition of Latin root words. Players would interact with the world, gathering for example the root “PETR” from stone or “SOLV” from water. They would then combine those roots with prefixes and suffixes to solve puzzles in the world around them. In the picture here, the player’s job is to PETRify the puzzle wall in the background, then disSOLVe it to pass to the next level.
